CANNES FILM FESTIVAL LINE UP

The Line for the Cannes Film Festival was announced today.  It is a big year for American films. One of the most anticipated is ON THE ROAD. Is is the story of Jack Kerouac who traveled the United States in the 1940s with  Neal Cassady and several other figures who would go on to fame in their own right. Starring Sam Riley and  Kristen Stewart, it also features a performance from Kirsten Dunst, who won Cannes’ best actress award last year for her role in MELANCHOLIA.  Also included are KILLING THEM SOFTLY starring Brad Pitt as a mob enforcer, and THE PAPERBOY a drama with Zac Efron and Nicole Kidman by Lee Daniels, director of PRECIOUS.

LAWLESS by John Hillcoat, director of  THE ROAD stars Jessica Chastain and Tom Hardy in a tale of Depression-era bootleggers.

The 3D animation MADAGASCAR 3 will also premiere at the festival  The film features the voices of of Ben Stiller and Sacha Baron Cohen.

They will also present a Midnight screening of Dario Argento’s highly awaited DRACULA in 3D.

The festival will take place May 16-27.  This is when we hear the reviews of some Oscar potential films. Nothing my come of them, but we at least have something to talk about.
